TRUK LAGOON

WRECKS

HOKUYO MARU

Naval miscellaneous Auxiliary

2010. This was the first time I dived this wreck. What a fantastic bit of rust! Sitting completely upright in 60m of water. Viz is good and the superstructure is intact. The wheel house is open to the elements with 2 telegraphs and helm with wheel. The holds are fairly empty with most of the interesting parts of the ship on the outside. More details beside the images.

Bow section is really impressive. Port anchor chain out sitting bolt upright. The last image on the right here is the captains bathroom on the port side inside the main superstructure

This is the bridge section. As you can see it is open to the elements! One of the telegraphs has fallen over on itself.

You can see that there is quite a lot of damage in the midships. Here the main stack has collapsed to the port. 4 out of the 6 engine skylights are open and easy access to teh engine room. Dont have too much info on the engineroom as I spent most of the dive taking ambient pictures on the outside of the ship. Also another group went into the engineroom so it would have been fairly well dived by the time I would get in!! Next time!
